Hi, I'm Christa
I'm a believer, a sports consultant, a speaker, and a soon-to-be certified personal trainer. In every setting I step into, I desire to bring people together, build communities, and exude joy.Glad you're here. Take a look around and get to know me. Community events are coming soon, and I'd love for you to be part of them.
Beliefs
I am a believer.
I believe in the big things,
And the little things.
I believe in the constants,
And the changing.
In the consistency of community,
In the hope of hospitality.
In the worth of worship.
In the power of prayer.
In the strength of a simple smile,
And in the love of lingering laughter.
I am a believer.
I believe in the big things –
My God is sovereign, righteous, and merciful.
And the little things –
My life is a mere breath.
I believe in the constants –
The Word of God, and the Living Water.
And the changing –
The people who I encounter.
For seasons.
For reasons.
It's nice to meet you :)
I am a believer. And here's the heart of what I believe...
We Needed a Savior
Genesis 3 shares the fall of man as Adam and Eve chose to sin against God even after God provided everything they needed. While God showed mercy on Adam and Eve, their sin still had a generational impact, spreading to all mankind (Romans 5:12-15). All men fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23-26).
We are slaves to this sin (John 8:34-36) and dead in our ways (Ephesians 2:1-3).
A verse I love that encapsulates our desperate need for a Savior is Jeremiah 2:13, which says:
For My people have committed two evils:
They have abandoned Me,
The fountain of living waters,
To carve out for themselves cisterns,
Broken cisterns
That do not hold water.
At the time this was written, the Israelites (God's people) neglected God's provision. Instead, they created idols and high places to worship false gods and themselves. These were broken cisterns they made for themselves (that left them empty and unsatisfied) when they could have turned to the fountain of living waters, God, who continued to pour out His love for them.
God knew the nature of man. God knows the nature of man as we continue to create for ourselves broken cisterns that will never fill us. As we continue to neglect our all-powerful, all-compassionate God. Continuing down this path would lead us to destruction and death.
God Sent Jesus to Pay the Price
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God sent His Son, Jesus, who humbled Himself, took the form of man (John 1:14), died on the cross for our sins (1 Peter 2:24), and rose again to offer us salvation (1 Peter 1:3).
Sometimes, it is easy to gloss over these words: Jesus died on the cross for me. Sometimes, it is easy to not fully comprehend the weight and gravity of this statement. But, Jesus endured great pain. Excruciating suffering. For me.
In Matthew 27:45, Jesus says on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" This question is a reference to Psalm 22 that starts off with these very words. In Psalm 22, hundreds of years prior to the actual crucifixion of Jesus Christ, prophecy is made of how Jesus' garments will be divided (John 19:24), how water will pour out of Him and wash our sins away (John 19:34), and how He will endure anguish, mocking, and torture. All of which was fulfilled. Jesus died on the cross, as Perfect, for me, imperfect. That is love.
After being buried, Jesus rose to life again (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). After spending time with witnesses, He ascended to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19).
We Are Called to Accept Jesus
We are called to respond to this great gift that God has given us by believing in Jesus as our Savior (John 3:36). We are called to confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9-10) and repent from our sinful ways (Mark 1:14-15).
We Are Made Alive in Jesus
We are born again! We access life in Christ (1 Corinthians 15:21-22, Ephesians 2:4-9, Colossians 2:13-14), and we are free. Free indeed. We will inherit the kingdom of God where Jesus is King (Matthew 25:34).
And, we get the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us in our lives. John 7:37-39 states:
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He said in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Those who believe in Jesus get access to the Holy Spirit, the Living Water.
We no longer live to carve out broken cisterns that do not hold water. Instead, rivers of Living Water will flow within us. We are no longer empty. We are sustained.
We are full. Full of hope, love, and peace. This is Good News!
Sports Consulting
I'm a sports consultant at a Big 4 firm, with over five years of experience working across sports and philanthropy. I support college athletics practices, where I get to dig into strategic problem solving, storyboarding, and ideation to help tackle real challenges facing the industry.
Before this role, I graduated from the nation's #1 Sport Management program, where I supported the philanthropic work of university athletic departments, pro athletes, and pro sports teams.
Speaking
I've been speaking since I was 17, when I gave my first TEDx talk on the desensitization of society. Since then, I've given three more TEDx talks to crowds of hundreds, covering topics like social media addiction, organizational development, and entrepreneurship.
On the faith side, I've developed and delivered sermons, spoken to community groups of 100+ members, taught in front of church classrooms, led a semester-long college course on the Book of Romans at a top-10 institution, and led prayer for over a thousand young adults.
Speaking and teaching is my passion and I am always open to new opportunities.
